Tip #2 - The .hidden file
You can add a .hidden file to a folder, and Linux file managers will read it and hide every file/folder found in it.
There is a really neat convention followed by Linux file managers to help keep your screen space neat and tidy.
I use this feature to hide "System Volume Information" on a shared NTFS partition that I share between my Windows and Linux OSes. Just hide the .hidden file in Windows like you would any file, and neither OS displays the SVI folder or the .hidden file!
